I am wearing my late 1930's green floral print dress, a black belt from a thrifted blouse, my back seam tights from Dear Gladys (I love these, they do that vintage and new mix so well) and my red wedges. Note the smudge on my red shoe is not a permanent boo boo, but in fact a Babycat tumbleweed that had attached itself to the grippy suede. Despite regular kitty brushing and such (such, always) frequent hoovering, Babycat tumbleweeds are just a part of everyday life chez Esme. Esme and the Cat Fluff.
I do love wearing later 1930s and 1940s rayon print dresses, and will add more to my collection when I can. I find them so versatile and like to wear them with both vintage inspired and more modern hairstyles. On Thursday I did a messy curled up do, a style I particularly like at the moment and is great for windy days. Oh and that reminds me... I want to ask you some questions!
I am going to do a tutorial, as requested, on the hair style from this post. Tell me, what do you prefer: videos, pictures, animated gifs..? If I make videos, are you happy to just have the visuals or do you prefer having me talk you through it too? Please, let me know and I can do my best for you.

Ah those tumbleweeds - they get everywhere don't they!
I think Boof's actually killed our vacuum cleaner.
Suede is such a magnet for it isn't it? And you go through so many of those sticky roller things. :-)
That dress is perfect btw - I'm envious of your skill in tracking these rayon dreams down.
Oh and I seem to be extra terrible at breaking that acquaintance>friend barrier - I know we planned to do some drawing some time but if that's not happening anymore, it would still be cool to catch up/hang out/anything - what do you think? :-)
OOh, gorgeous dress! Love the print and how you've paired with those shoes and tights!
Esz: haha so true, same here about the hoover and the sticky rollers! And yes, would absolutely love to catch up. I'll email you!
BaronessVonVintage: thank you! It's a bit of a go-to like this, for me! :D
I love that dress! I've been wanting to get some 30s/40s dresses into my wardrobe. For the tutorial, I think that videos are probably the most effective, but sometimes I like photos because I don't feel back looking at them at work. =)
Your green dress is so pretty! I love how that color looks with your red hair. The red shoes are awesome paired with it too.
please I'd love to watch a video tutorial with you talking, I find it much better to understand than to just read instructions, or photo tutorials. Btw this red hair colour really suits you
Love your dress really pretty print and perfect teamed with those amazing shoes.
I like the video idea for a tutorial. Being talked though it would be good.
I love tris dress, and I love your pants.
Kisses.
LLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLL My sides hurt from laughing at the term "babycat tumbleweeds". I feel your pain. :D
Hi Esme,
I'd love to see a video of the tutorial because it's nice to hear your voice!
Great outfit today, or rather, last Thursday :)
Wish we'd seen a pic of the culprit, Babycat! It's been so long...
Love Evangeline

You look stunning as always. Loving the shoes!

Hi Esme!
I'd like you to make a video in which you talk. It's easier to understand the steps when you explain them!
Have a great day!
Caroline
love this dress, the green is really fresh and lovely with the shoes. Can't wait to see the tutorial, and personally, videos are best. And the british accent is always a nice touch. :D

please I'd love to watch a video tutorial with your voice explaining everything
Oh the floral dress is so pretty and you look simply beautiful in her.
Tee hee pussy cat tumbleweeds are just perfect!!!
I love how they make friends with the dust bunnies.
Happiness to you
Vanessa
Stunning dress, love the colour!! A video would be nice, so you can talk the steps through :) Happy Monday. xx
Agh you always have the most beautiful outfits! Whenever I'm feeling uninspired with my clothes I check out your blog for new ideas!
I like your dress very much! it's hard to believe a thing from 1930's or 1940's can be in a such great condition.
Amazing dress<3
I really love seeing the way you work your open toes heels into more winter style outfits, it's a big help when staring down the barrel of six months of awful weather!
Please forgive me for asking such a question in your comments, but I'm hoping you or one of your readers might be able to help.
I'm from Wellington, NZ and have a five day trip booked to Melbourne from May 31. I was going to be visiting friends, but have just found out none of them will be in town while I am there! I have never been to Melbourne before and am now at a loss for what to do.
Would any Melbourne based ladies be willing to play tour guide for even a day for someone who has never visited before? My only plans for the weekend were to explore the city a bit and do some vintage shopping/visit some markets. Not huge goals, but I have no idea where to start all on my lonesome!
Once again, sorry for asking in the comments but I'm not sure what to do about the whole thing!
Ahh kitty kat tumbleweeds. Our Sophiekitten used to leave them about. Vacuuming was a daily necessity. Strangely - I miss them.
I prefer verbal instruction with video. I'm a little slow that way ha ha.
And I love that red bag behind the white.
love you hair like that :)
Love love the green floral dress! Ha Ha about the BabyCat! What would life be without a baby cat fluff everywhere? I prefer the photo tutorial, but I am in the minority here. Thanks for all the education on vintage, Therese
you are just too pretty lady!!! ;)
I would love it in video form xx

Oh wow, this dress...could it be any more perfect? No.
oh the print on that dress is perfect. i see a lot of poor recreations of that kind of floral in stores these days but they never get it right.
i prefer photos + words for tutorials. i can never sit still through a video tutorial but i can scroll through photos and get a better idea of what's happening. and you can even photoshop in little arrows and such when you need to indicate direction.
Video tutorials are great for hair and makeup.
If you're taking blog post requests - I would love to see how you style vintage for workwear.
Marianne, is that a negligée next to your window? Such a beautiful dress. Pretty and classy. :)
so beautiful!
You are my style icon! You wear vintage so effortlessly it amazes me!

love all these photos! gorgeous shoes. & you're just stunning. xo.
Ahh you are too gorgeous! *_* Personally, I love watching videos - I find it's easier to listen to the instructions AND see the visual at the same time!
Your hair is lovely! I would love to see a video tutorial. A visual always helps me. My hair is super long, so I always have to modify a bit when doing hairstyles, and it just helps to see exactly what goes on! Your blog is fun as always!
